Abstract

This article studies the amino and fatty acid composition of the aboveground parts of the plant Verbascum, of Scrophulariaceae family, collected in the East Kazakhstan region during the fruiting period in 2024. The relevance of the work is the identification of biologically active substances from plants growing in the region and the assessment of their potential for use in pharmaceutical production. During the study, the quantitative composition of various amino and fatty acids in the aboveground parts of the plant was determined, using paper and gas chromatography methods. As a result, amino acids (leucine, lysine, arginine) and unsaturated fatty acids (linoleic, oleic) important for the human body were found in the plant composition. The data obtained confirm the pharmacological potential of the plant Verbascum and indicate that it can be used in the production of medicinal products and food additives. The results of the study are important for future research in the field of phytochemistry, pharmaceuticals and the food industry.

The aboveground part of the plant is a source of many important compounds. Using paper chromatography, phenolic acids, flavonoids, and carbohydrates were identified from the plant. The results of the study showed that the plant species contains a sufficient amount of biologically active substances, which in the future will allow Kazakhstan to expand the range of domestically effective medicinal products available in medicine and agriculture of the republic.
