The role of the «Сritical friend» occupies a special place in professional development in the educational system, in the context of training. In this article, the importance of a critical friend is considered as a psychological factor in increasing the professional competence of a university teacher. As a result of a comprehensive study of literature and practical examples, the multifaceted influence of a critical friend on the high level of a teacher's career, its effectiveness and general professional experience is outlined. The purpose of this article is to analyze the deep impact of a critical friend on the psychological landscape of a university teacher and, consequently, on his development as a professional educator.
Analyzing the psychological phenomena of professional competence, the authors were able to determine the effectiveness of using a critical approach by evaluating the teacher's own experience and compare it with the research approach in action. In addition, the level of development of their professional competence was determined by taking questionnaires, test tasks from young specialists and experienced teachers, and final recommendations were developed.
