Abstract

The article reveals the content of the work on the discipline "Service learning. The author examines the experience of organizing and establishing a new project discipline at the Caspian State University of Technology and Engineering named after Sh. Yesenov, the difficulties of solving situations of real moments of students' project activities in Aktau during the organizational period, many of which are educational cases for the preparation of subsequent students. The discipline "Service learning" was introduced into the curriculum of KSUTI. Yesenova as a compulsory subject in September 2018 for first-year students of all specialties. Its essence is the development and implementation by students of projects related to the real social problems of the Mangystau region. It also describes more than half a century of history of the Service-learning program around the world, developed in the USA and distributed in many countries of the world. Having appeared, seemingly by chance, from a spontaneous situation of gratuitous assistance from students of one of the universities of America, she unexpectedly received a tremendous resonance both in the public and among the students of this university.
