The article discusses the specifics of the application of polymer flooding technology at the mature Uzen deposit. The factors influencing the viscosity and stability of polymer solutions, including the molecular weight of polyacrylamide, water mineralization, temperature, the structure of the porous medium, and the mechanical, thermal, oxidative, and biological degradation of the polymer, are analyzed. It is shown that the polymer dissolution time under field conditions is significantly shorter than the laboratory time, which is associated with the hydrodynamic features of the injection lines. Methods for calculating the viscosity characteristics of solutions and recommendations for selecting the brand and concentration of polymer to ensure the stability of solutions and high efficiency of polymer flooding are presented.
