Abstract

This article examines the issues of accounting for power losses in electrical networks during the optimization of power system operating modes with respect to active power. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing need to improve the efficiency of modern power systems and to reduce electricity losses during transmission and distribution processes. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the influence of the slack bus selection on the optimality of the power system operating mode. The paper discusses theoretical aspects of power system optimization as well as practical approaches to determining power losses in electrical networks.

During the research, calculation and experimental studies were carried out in order to determine the relationship between the optimality of the operating mode and the choice of the balancing (slack) bus. The obtained results were analyzed and compared in detail. The analysis showed that the optimality of the power system operating mode does not depend on the choice of the balancing bus when the network parameters and system operating conditions are correctly taken into account. It was also found that any additional effect observed when changing the balancing bus is mainly associated with the corresponding change in its voltage level. The results obtained in this study can be applied in solving problems related to the optimization of power system operating modes and improving the efficiency of electrical network management.
